Peseiro Not Worried About Eagles’ Players Bench Roles At Clubs

Ahead of the Super Eagles versus the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau 2023 AFCON qualifying matches, Jose Peseiro has stated that he has no problem with the bench roles of some of the players at their respective clubs.

The Super Eagles host the Djurtus in the first leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Friday, 24th March, at 5pm Nigerian time. The second led will take place at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau on Monday, 27th March, at 5pm Nigerian time.

Speaking after the Super Eagles' first training session at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja, Peseiro insisted that he would keep on inviting the boys if they are physically fit and are not injured.

"I prefer to choose the best players and I invite them because they are the best. I call them because I want to build a team. I call them because I believe in them and I remain in contact with them and their coaches," Peseiro said.

"I won't call them when they are injured. But if their respective club coaches tell me they are playing but that they chose other players based on better form, I need these players to build the team spirit and confidence. If they don't get the chance to play, it is my obligation - it is my responsibility to keep calling them so long as they are fit

"I expect all the invited players to report to be in camp and train Tuesday, so no problem. I am not under any pressure to win the game on Friday because I believe in the boys," Peseiro concluded.
