Sao Tome and Principe forward Ricardo Cardoso says the True Patriots gave their best against the Super Eagles in Sunday's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Adriano Eusebio's side went down to a 6-0 defeat against the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday.
Sao Tome and Principe were pummelled 10-0 in the reverse fixture by the Super Eagles.
Cardoso said they fought hard against the Super Eagles despite the outcome of the game.
" Nigeria have a good team, they have good players in the Premier League and other big leagues. It was difficult to play against them but we did our best," the striker told the media after the game.
"We really love the ambience at the stadium. It was a good experience for me and my teammates."
