
Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro is thrilled that the team's winless streak in friendllies is now over.
The three-time African champions defeated the Mambas of Mozambique 3-2 at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira on Monday night to end a five-year winless streak in friendly games.
Mozambique scored early in the game, but the Super Eagles rallied to win the contest.
“I am happy because after 15 matches, we have finally won a game,” Peseiro said after the game," Peseiro said after the game.

“We have not won a friendly game in the last five years. We have had eight defeats and seven draws but today, the result was good.”
Up next for Peseiro's men is the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification games vs Lesotho and Zimbabwe in November.
Thereafter, the Super Eagles will prepare to join Africa’s best at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Ivory Coast from January 2024.
Already, Nigeria have been drawn alongside Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau in Group A for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Nigeria will be targeting a fourth AFCON title, their last triumph was in 2013.
